Backyard What?
Je suis ici un an plus tard avec la même histoire, quel est le problème avec le ramp pour la Backyard Party? Le rail à nulle part et les pièces manquantes?
Qu’est-ce que vous penser? Suis-je trop pointilleux?

wow some peeps just dont learn….
The designers don’t learn or I don’t learn? Both are right but it’s hard to teach an old dog pop.
designers? come on that aint no design….its supposed to be a ”pool party” where’s the pool at ????
Only the first year is was a pool party. Since then it’s only a Backyard Party. Anyways, no pool party could compete against the Protec Pool Party at the Vans Skatepark in Orange County.
wtf
sad design,
They should check this out first. And then design it!

yeah J-M . les dudes de californies étaient chez nous la semaine passe et ils ont dit la meme chose. le jeune de 14 ans a commenter que c’était pas mal poche comme design.
Pretty sad…
the positive side is : none of the big US skaters are gonna fly down to skate this…more cash price for our local dudes….
Ca va etre tout simplement un Backyard Vans Mini-ramp party.
Ben, ca va etre une contest de mini-ramp riverdance sur les coping. Kicklip to blunt to kickflip. SHovit to disaster to revert to slow pumping.
Chris Haslam aurait du fun la dedans (No disrespect).
Anyway…
“Cuique suum”
What’s going on this year? Usually a post like this is replied to by a bunch guys stating that I’m an old kook or something much harsher. I really did want peoples’ opinion about the ramp layout, for and against with some reasoning behind their decision. I have been wrong before. I also understand that building a ramp just for one contest adds limitations to how much time and money should be sunk into the ramp itself so things like the missing pieces make sense as a promoter but as a skater it leaves something to be desired.
I guess I should be adding a disclaimer after all my posts.
“The opinion stating in the original post is that of the author and NOT that of Expose Magazine or it’s affiliated employees.”
Ri you harsh old kook. You state that you’ve been wrong before, but I’m afraid you are mistaken. I didn’t know Expose had employees, I thought everyone was just good hearted bénévoles!
Todd, was just talking about your burritos with Vincent, fuck, I need more…the best!
Thanks for the positive words! I’d like to open up a burrito counter, but I’ve already got a full time Jay Oh Be and despite my best efforts to get fired, they seem to want to keep me around. So anybody feel like managing a hole in the wall burrito counter with me? I’m thinking mid 80′s skateshop style, streets of fire playing on the vcr, fugazi blaring from the speakers, and the best burritos for sale this side of the mission dolores . This should fit well with the typical skate lifestyle of party til 4am, wake up at 1, blaze, etc.
breakfast burritos are the best. they were so good in elmonte ca.
Loosing money!!
DIY or DIE !!
P45 for life!!
this ramp plan is pure shit, right in line with all the other crap we get in montreal. I say make at least a few round things in it. without being too rude, but this is fucking lame.
Oh ! And by the way guys, in the end the event was a success. SUAS… everything & anything !

A success for whom? I had fun watching guys kill the 8 foot section. The two guys (Kyle and Riley) that had flow at the 2011 BYP once again showed that they are masters of finding lines. This year’s ramp did end up having much more lines then the 2011 BYP but it wasn’t the same as the design above. The short side had bowled corner (instead of the extension/jersey thing) which is not in the design, a different height on both straight walls then the outside corner didn’t happen, there was only one hole instead of four, a bank wall was added (it allowed people to head back with some speed), and the rail was replaced with a box changed the ramp. The ramp above would have given a totally different contest. If the BYP design crew would want my two cents during the design process, I’ll donate my time next year. The same goes to any crew planning a ramp or bowl.
Big up to all the people that slaved to get this ramp build so quickly and taken down even quicker. Fred, get off the ramp when people are working on it!
